CRN (CANADIAN REGISTRATION NUMBER)

The Canadian Registration Number (CRN) is a code issued by each Canadian province where this license is necessary to place and use pressure equipment such as boilers, tanks or devices attached to them.

The Canadian license is issued for a project recognized by the major international standards such as ASME XIII and ASME VIII DIV.1.

The Canadian provinces that require the CRN for safety valves are:

  • Alberta (ABSA)
  • Ontario (TSSA)
  • Quebec (QUEBEC)
  • New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador, Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut (ACIC)

For all other provinces, ASME approval is sufficient.

Nuova General Instruments safety valves are ASME certified for gaseous and steam state with calibration greater than 1barg can be supplied on request with CRN.

ASME Safety Valve Leak Test: All safety valves are leak tested with the use of a hydrogen leak detector. The acceptability criterion is 1 X 10-5 cc/s which is equal to "0" leaks, this meets or exceeds the limits defined in API 527.
